End of the day in the summer is such a great time to paint. I went out twice at the same time to paint these. On the third day, they were gone!

Painted on site on a  wonderful spring day in the Virginia countryside.  Seems funny to think that it was actually kind of cold that day, but the rhododendron bush didn't seem to mind.

Although I was excited to put figures in my painting during a day painting in town, this color relationship appealed even more than the people passing by.

More flower paintings, while they last. Actually, they are going down fast now. In this painting, it was a surprise to see an angel iris--but it doesn't surprise me as they are such heavenly flowers!

I set this up so the orchids on the left would get a full dose of light. I wanted to keep the shadow colors as light as possible to maximize their delicacy.

Enjoyed using big brushes for just about all strokes in this painting. I find that I really don't need small brushes, except to sign my name on the bottom of the painting.

This is one from an early morning outing with my dog. The cool blue shadow colors of his white fur and the cast shadows on the field blended together well.

I am planning to post figure paintings in 2016, especially during the winter. Having a four hour session featuring one pose allows time for planning out the value pattern in the final piece. .
