This is one from an early morning outing with my dog. The cool blue shadow colors of his white fur and the cast shadows on the field blended together well.

It has been fun seeing what happens with the final painting when working from a value sketch. Usually it is quite similar in mood; this time something different appeared.

I am planning to post figure paintings in 2016, especially during the winter. Having a four hour session featuring one pose allows time for planning out the value pattern in the final piece. .

#100 Grounded eagle

I made it to 100 posts before the end of the year--and there's still some time left! Daily paintworks has been a good experience for me.  If nothing else,  it has brought awareness of how to improve my work. For example, getting the big shapes and having an idea driving each painting does yield better results.
